1. Seasonal depression is the type of depression that appears in a given person every year at the same time. For most, it starts with the arrival of autumn and fully manifests itself in winter. Summer depression is less frequent, but contrary to misconceptions, it exists.
2. It is important to realize that depression is not a bad mood. So, if you suspect that your condition might be something more than just temporary despondency, do not wait until your condition is serious, and turn to a professional – a psychologist or psychiatrist.
3. Do not ignore when you perceive in yourself a combination of hopelessness, long-term despondency and drowsiness. A symptom can also be greater irritability, worse mood and less energy than usual, in addition, it can also be concentration and decision-making disorders. Warning signs tend to be neglect of social life, isolation, loss of interest in favorite activities. Well, and a very common symptom is change in eating habits, for example, excessive craving for carbohydrates.
4. The reasons for the emergence of (not only) seasonal depression vary. A significant factor is lack of sunlight, well, and the whole process can be influenced by age, genetics and hormones.
5. A short-term bad mood can often be solved simply by changing the environment or new experiences. If you feel sad at home alone, go on a trip by yourself, somewhere that attracts you. Rent a car in a car rental, get on a train, take a bike and enjoy a day for yourself!
