
1. Burnout is emotional, mental and often also physical exhaustion. It is caused by permanent or repeated stress, and its symptoms often resemble chronic fatigue to depression. You don't want to do anything then to such an extent that your body and head refuse to fulfill tasks that are not essential, for example, replying to messages, cleaning, sometimes even favorite hobbies etc.
2. It is said that the biggest flame burns out fastest. It means that burnout very often affects people full of inspiration, ideas and enthusiasm. In such case huge enthusiastic commitment can turn into absolute apathy - when energy runs out or the person sees facts of real life.

Some professions are riskier: doctors (especially general practitioners and psychiatrists), teachers, psychologists, social workers, other helping professions, librarians, police officers, firefighters, lawyers, IT specialists, executives, customer service representatives, financial advisors, politicians, media workers...
4. Burnout does not have to occur only in work environment; it can appear also in other areas. For example in family life. Conflicts between family members, responsibility towards children, financial problems and various other problems can lead to chronic stress, which in turn in sensitive people is a direct path to burnout.
