
1. First of all, we would like to tell you that we are aware that everyone is different, with individual experiencing, and we do not question your feelings. But maybe it will help you to know that January is the saddest month for many. The advantage of this not very positive fact is relatively good availability of information in the form of articles and blogs for example about seasonal depression. Educate yourself, get to know the functioning of the psyche and the influence of bodily processes on mental ones.
2. Lack of sunlight can affect serotonin levels. Take care of feelings of happiness through pleasant sensory stimuli, wrap yourself in a soft blanket, light a scented candle, listen to pleasant music. If you can, invest in a phototherapy lamp, which imitates daylight.
3. Have a daily routine and stick to your healthy habits. Primarily it is prevention of physical diseases, which also affect mental state. But besides that it will give you a feeling of control, which is the opposite of helplessness.
4. Sign up for some course, go to a fit camp or complete a workshop. Combination of certain feeling of success and contact with people with similar interests is an excellent antidote to sadness.
5. Don't forget about vitamins. Deficiency of vitamin D is common in winter months due to lack of sunlight. Also vitamin B12 is important for brain health and can help improve mood and memory. Omega-3 fatty acids are good for overall health and can help improve mood and cognitive functions.
