1. If you have sedentary job and your knees hurt, it is important to adjust sitting position at computer so that pressure on joints is minimized. Make sure you have knees at right angle and feet firmly resting on ground or footrest. Take regular breaks and treat yourself to little stretching. 

2. To question whether to continue exercising with painful knees, we cannot give you unequivocal answer. If pain is strong or persists, definitely consult doctor or physiotherapist. If pain is mild, you can try some light exercises strengthening muscles around joint and alleviating load on knees. Before starting any new exercise program however consult your health condition with expert.

3. Try limiting activities during which you perceive pain, it is prevention of worsening condition. Give your knees time for regeneration and avoid excessive load that can lead to further damage. Make sure you follow correct technique during exercise and sitting to minimize pressure on knees and speed up their recovery.

4. After pain subsides it is important to focus on exercises helping strengthen muscles around knees and improve their flexibility. These exercises ensure joint stability and prevent further injury. Swimming is ideal exercise because offers gentle way to strengthen legs without excessive load on knees. Similarly cycling is great for improving mobility and flexibility, as it doesn't involve impacts or large loads on joints.
