1. Iron deficiency leads to disrupted hematopoiesis. The number of red blood cells responsible for supplying the body with oxygen decreases, which in adults causes an overall feeling of weakness and malaise. To this are then added symptoms such as hair loss or brittle nails.

2. We get iron through diet. Its best source is meat including fish. You can also find it in vegetables, for example spinach or broccoli, but it doesn't get into your organism as easily from these foods. Vegans and vegetarians should supplement this trace element through dietary supplements.

3. Little iron in the body doesn't have to be caused by incorrect diet. Sometimes the body cannot absorb it. This problem concerns for example people with celiac disease and appears as an accompanying symptom of stomach acid deficiency.

4. Pregnant women should pay great attention to sufficient iron intake. Its lack is not unusual in this period, because it plays a role not only in hematopoiesis of the future mom, but also the fetus.
