1. Do you also have someone in your surroundings who loses weight in difficult life situation? Maybe this reaction to increased psychological load is very noticeable for surroundings of given person, but it is not common rule. Stress encourages weight gain by triggering insurmountable craving for foods full of carbohydrates. This phenomenon is quite logical, because these caloric foods have calming effect, not by chance they are called "comfort foods" in English. Moreover stress increases tendency of body to store fats.

Level of leptin decreases, which is hormone inducing feeling of satiety. That is not all, because simultaneously with reduction of leptin on the other hand level of ghrelin increases, which is hormone stimulating feeling of hunger. 3. About importance of vitamin D is talked quite frequently in recent years. Its benefit for bone health and in prevention of bad mood to depressive states is emphasized. Most recently however researches are done also about fact that it has strong benefits in weight loss.

4. That people don't lose weight at same speed is known fact. Individual differences lie in various physiological and genetically conditioned properties, as well as in lifestyle. It is not only about whether you walk or stand in elevator, whether after lunch you can resist chocolate, whether you go on demanding hikes every weekend. It was found that fidgety people burn significant amount of energy without knowing it, per day it can be up to incredible 350 calories. So if you wiggle a lot, it might not be as bad as your surroundings tell you.

5. Many are convinced that starving is necessary in weight loss. Noticeable and not always comfortable change in style of eating is okay, starving however in no case. And not only because of risk of developing eating disorders. Feeling of strong hunger is signal from body that it needs something to be able to function effectively. If you don't supply it, at next meal it can switch to more cautious mode and start storing calories more intensely so it doesn't have to feel lack again.
