
1. Probably biggest advantage of running in city is good accessibility. You can run out (literally) anytime during day, which represents huge flexibility in training planning. You don't need any means of transport and don't have to invest any time in transfer to "crime scene".
2. Goal of running is ideally health improvement. But air in cities is often polluted, which can negatively affect respiratory tract and overall health condition. If your training is during rush hour, count on risk of increased inhalation of exhaust fumes.
3. Running in city can also be social activity. You can participate in city running events, join running clubs, but high probability is also that you meet someone during your trainings. Easier you find partner also from group of your friends or acquaintances, because running in city doesn't require large time or financial investment.
4. Concrete and asphalt sidewalks are harder. That might not be completely ideal for your joints and muscles compared to running in nature on softer surfaces, for example in grass or forest paths, because increases risk of injuries and accidents, especially with long-term load.
5. What are we going to lie, running in city is comfortable. Urban areas are often better lit and secured, which means that running at night or early morning is less risky. City parks and sidewalks also often provide equipment like drinking fountains, public toilets or rest places.
