1. Pelvic floor muscles have an important function in the body of every human (and not just women, as many think). Their role is support of internal organs of the pelvis, such as bladder, rectum and uterus in women. In addition, they help in control of emptying these organs and in sexual activity.

2. Pelvic floor muscles naturally weaken with age. However, the cause of this unpleasant phenomenon can be overweight or obesity. Also poor posture affects this area, as well as some surgical procedures in the pelvic part. Well and this health problem is very well known to many women after childbirth.

3. The most famous way of strengthening pelvic floor muscles are Kegel exercises, during which muscles surrounding the bladder and rectum are alternately contracted and relaxed. They work as prevention, but also as a method of treatment.

4. Pilates as a form of exercise is based on principles of concentration, control and fluidity. Many Pilates exercises help strengthen and tone pelvic floor muscles, for example bird-dog, crab, camel etc.

5. If you prefer exercising with weight, it is fine, you have various options to strengthen your pelvic floor. For example, prefer exercises that require pelvic floor muscles to work against gravity, like squats or lunges with weights in hands.
