1. Glucose, or grape sugar, is basic energy source for human body. Brain is one of biggest consumers of glucose in body. Needs it for proper functioning, concentration, learning and memory. Without sufficient amount of glucose fatigue, irritability and worsened mental performance may occur.

2. Sugar, especially in form of glucose, provides immediately available energy. During intense exercise, such as running or strength training, body uses glucose from blood for quick energy. If blood glucose level is low, performance can decrease and fatigue may appear. Even after physical activity it is important to replenish glucose to restore glycogen stores, supporting muscle regeneration and preparation for next performance.

3. Sweets can stimulate endorphin production, leading to mood improvement. Occasional enjoying of sweet foods can be part of balanced approach to eating, including also pleasure from food.

4. Glucose affects levels of insulin, hormone helping regulate blood sugar level. Insulin allows cells to receive glucose from blood, essential for maintaining stable blood sugar level and proper metabolism functioning. It is also important for metabolic processes, such as glycolysis, key for energy production. This process is basic step in carbohydrate metabolism and ensures cells have enough energy for proper functioning.

5. Sugar is not enemy itself, but its excessive consumption can be harmful to health. Key is moderation and choosing healthier alternatives. Too much added sugar can be harmful, while natural sugars are needed for energy balance and health. Basis of healthy nutrition is balanced diet rich in fruit, vegetables, whole grain cereals and proteins.
